OK, I finally have started to learn where everything is on Photoshop. And though I dearly love Gimp for it's simplicity and relatively low demands on your computer, I can see why Photoshop is so expensive. You really get what you pay for.
Anyway, this pic isn't "old school", but hey, this is the off topic forum.
The original is from Gymnastics United's galleries of the Swiss Junior Nats. The gymnast is Nadia Baeriswyl. No infringement of Mr. Stefan Wurzer's copyright is intended. Personal use only.
Here is my officially "Photoshopp'd" version. I used CS5's new native masking tools to strip the background and put the gymnast against a much better (IMHO) background of a meadow in the Colorado mountains.
I'm seriously considering buying a serial number for this demo.
And here is basically the same thing as I did with Gimp above:
Notice how much cleaner the masking Photoshop does is compared to the hand work I had to do in Gimp to achieve a similar effect. I need to research to see if perhaps Gimp has a plugin available to do the same thing.
